Concussion Baseline Testing
Concussion baseline testing is a computerized neurocognitive test utilized to assess an athlete?s baseline decision making skills, reaction time and memory. The results will be compiled and remain on file at the Nationwide Children?s Sports Medicine. If the athlete sustains a concussion, the test will be repeated in our Sports Medicine Concussion Clinic. The baseline and after injury scores are compared to determine the effects the concussion has had on the athlete?s brain function. Although a neurocognitive test will never replace a thorough clinical exam by an experienced clinician, it can be a valuable tool in safely returning an athlete to participation.
