DESCRIPTION:Since 1981\, the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) has raised more than $1 billion globally to support Special Olympics programs providing sports training\, health screenings\, and community events for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.\n\n\n\nIn 2023\, the New Albany Police Department proudly hosted its first leg of the Torch Run\, helping carry the Flame of Hope to the Opening Ceremonies of Special Olympics Ohio's State Summer Games at The Ohio State University. Each year\, participation in New Albany has grown\, and we're excited to keep that momentum going in 2025!\n\n\n\nThe community is invited to join the New Albany Police Department as Guardians of the Flame and run or jog alongside New Albany Special Olympics athletes. If you're unable to participate but still want to make a difference\, donations are welcome 80% of funds raised go directly to support New Albany Special Olympics!\n\n\n\nRegister or donate here\n\n\n\nSpecial Olympics unleashes the potential of people with intellectual disabilities through the power of sport. As a LETR volunteer\, you will become an essential part of this movement. You have the opportunity to create positive change in your local community and across the globe.
