SUMMARY:Protecting Your Child From the Opioid Crisis
DESCRIPTION:PROTECTING YOUR CHILD FROM THE OPIOID CRISIS\n\n\nAs we continue to add supports for students and families and bring awareness to issues that may impact their world\, New Albany High School presents the NIX Opiates program for our learning community. \n\n \nNew Albany High School is partnering with The Ohio Chapter\, American College of Emergency Physicians (Ohio ACEP) through a local physician-led discussion for all parents in our New Albany Community. Our vision is to end the epidemic and reduce lives lost to drug abuse\, addiction\, and overdose. The emergency medicine doctor's unique role assures a direct look at the disease of addiction with student athletes and the often tragic results. \n\n \nWednesday\, November 30th at 6 - 7 p.m. in the New Albany Middle School Cafeteria. \n\n \n\nA teen's first exposure to prescription opiates or "pain killers" often occurs after a dental procedure or sports injury. Addiction is a disease that happens to "good kids" from "good families." Come learn how you can be a part of the solution.\n\n\nAbout the Speaker: \n\nDr. Ryan Squier is a local emergency physician and a father of four. He is dedicated to fighting the opiate abuse epidemic currently wreaking havoc on lives\, families\, and entire communities throughout Ohio and the nation. He established the Ohio ACEP Opiate Awareness Team\, a group of Ohio emergency room doctors committed to ending opiate abuse in their local communities.
