DESCRIPTION:The Village of New Albany and TechColumbus invite you to learn more about private equity opportunities available to entrepreneurs and start up business owners. An excellent panel of top notch investors from Angel to Venture Capital who live and work in the New Albany area will share information on what it takes to get funded.  If you are an entrepreneur or have an idea you have been thinking about\, this is an excellent opportunity to understand what it takes to attract capital and grow a business. This event is for current and future entrepreneurs\, community leaders and resource providers working with start-up businesses.  Attendees will have an opportunity to network with others and learn about resources available through the Village of New Albany and the TechColumbus TechStart program.  TechStart\, Central Ohio's Entrepreneurial Signature Program\, is led by TechColumbus and supported financially by Ohio's Third Frontier Program and eighteen local partners. It provides early stage funding and mentoring assistance to entrepreneurs with promising tech businesses throughout 15 counties of Central Ohio. Fort Washington Capital Group (FW Capital) is the private equity division of Fort Washington Investment Advisors. Mr. Cohn joined FW Capital in 2006 as Vice President and Regional Director for the Ohio-based program. Fort Washington Capital Partners Group manages and provides investment advice on over $1 billion of funds invested into private equity funds and directly into private companies. Mr. Cohn was a founding member and Partner of Mellon Ventures\, Inc. a private equity firm which grew to over $1.3 billion of investments and commitments. Mr. Cohn brings over twenty years of private equity\, leveraged lending and fundraising experience to FW Capital. Mr. Cohn earned an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University's Graduate School of Industrial Administration and a BS in Administration and Management Services from Carnegie Mellon University.\nJohn Huston\, Manager\, Ohio TechAngel Funds (OTAF)Mr. Huston's 30 year banking career includes C level positions with banks in five states - ranging from Chief Lending Officer to Chief Credit Officer and CEO. Upon retiring from banking in 2000\, he commenced his angel investing activities\, forming USPrivateCompanies\, LLC which has invested in more than two dozen start-up ventures. In 2004 John co-founded the Ohio TechAngel Fund (OTAF) which is the second largest angel investment group in the U.S. and now has three funds totaling $11 million.  They support early stage technology based companies that bring new jobs to the Central Ohio region. John is currently Chairman of the Angel Capital Association\, and is active with three other Ohio based private equity groups: The North Coast Angel Fund (Cleveland)\, ARCHAngels (Akron)\, and The East Central Ohio TechAngels Fund (Athens). John has taught finance at Ohio State University 's Fisher College of Business\, and devotes time to the Ohio Venture Association\, the TechColumbus ESP Deal Flow Assessment Committee\, the Third Frontier Advisory Board\, and the boards of several ventures funded by USPrivateCompanies.  Steve Jaffee\,  Reservoir Ventures\, General PartnerMr. Jaffee is a serial entrepreneur who has successfully managed\, grown\, and exited early-stage companies in several sectors.  Immediately prior to joining Reservoir in early 2005\, he was President and Managing Director of the Capital Markets Group of Textron Financial Corporation.  While at Textron\, he also co-founded and served as Managing Director for Textron Financial Mezzanine Partners L.P. and Executive Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions.  Textron Financial purchased RFC Capital Corporation\, where Mr. Jaffee served as CEO of this venture-backed start-up and provided investors with a 31% internal rate of return.  He earned his CPA while working for Price Waterhouse & Co.\, Inc\, and holds an MBA from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from McGill University.  Rich Langdale\, NCT Ventures\, Managing PartnersMr. Langdale is a seasoned entrepreneur and investor. In 1986\, while attending The Ohio State University\, Mr. Langdale founded Digital Storage\, Inc. ("DSI"). Since that time he has founded a total of eight companies and has co-founded\, acquired or invested in several more under the umbrella of NCT Ventures. Mr. Langdale\, through his capacity as a Managing Partner of NCT Ventures\, is still actively involved with several of these portfolio companies. In 2001\, Mr. Langdale (along with other persons affiliated with NCT Ventures) founded and developed the Center for Entrepreneurship at The Ohio State University\, which quickly earned a tier one ranking from Entrepreneur Magazine. Mr. Langdale helped develop the Entrepreneurship curriculum in addition to teaching undergraduate\, MBA and Executive MBA courses on Entrepreneurship.
