Breastfeeding Basics: Preparing for Breastfeeding Success
Planning for your baby’s arrival is an exciting, but often overwhelming time. This supportive, interactive class is designed for expectant parents who want to feel calm, confident, and prepared to breastfeed. Whether you are the mom, dad, or partner; all parents are welcome to attend. Led by an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), you’ll receive clear, evidence-based guidance along with hands-on practice using dolls and breast models, so you can leave with practical skills and feel confident about your first feedings.
In this class, you’ll learn:
-How breastfeeding works and what to expect after birth
-Comfortable feeding positions and recognizing early feeding cues
-The importance of skin-to-skin and early initiation
-How to troubleshoot common challenges
-Where to find trusted local breastfeeding support
Whether this is your first baby or you’re hoping for a smoother experience this time around, this class is here to support you. You’ll walk away feeling more prepared, more empowered, and more at ease as you get ready to nourish and bond with your baby.
About the Instructors: Sarah Druckenmiller is a Registered Nurse and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with over 17 years of experience supporting mothers and infants in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She also holds certification in Maternal Newborn Nursing, allowing her to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Sarah’s passion lies in empowering families to feel confident, informed, and supported throughout their parenting journey. She believes in meeting families where they are and tailoring care to their unique goals and circumstances with compassion and respect. In addition to her work in lactation and maternal-child health, Sarah brings a strong interest in fitness, health, and yoga to her practice. She holds a degree in Exercise Physiology from Ohio University and a Nursing degree from The Ohio State University, integrating evidence-based clinical care with a holistic, whole-person approach to well-being for both parents and babies. She has proudly called New Albany home since 2010 and actively volunteers in the community through programs that promote education, wellness, and family support. Giving back is a core part of her mission, and she is dedicated to helping families thrive during one of the most meaningful times in their lives.
