NEW ALBANY’S LEGEND OF THE PIGBEAR
Starting around the late 1930s and continuing through the early 1980s, residents of New Albany and Plain Township encountered an unknown creature that resembled a bear in shape but had a bald snout like a pig. By the 1970s when sightings peaked, local teenagers named it a Pigbear. Today the New Albany Historical Society believes it is time that New Albany’s Pigbear gets the recognition it deserves amongst American legends.
