Joy Works, LLC is dedicated to enabling individuals to flourish - to live joyful, meaningful and accomplished lives - through bringing the emerging science of positive psychology to their clients. Join Laura Cooke and Doug Smith to understand what it means to flourish, why doing so has such an incredibly positive impact on every aspect of our lives and to learn a set of skills that lead to peace with the past, confidence in the future and joy in the present - skills that enable one to flourish.
Pre-work Reminder: Attendees have the option to complete the free VIA Strengths Assessment online (approximately 10 minutes). Bring your results with you to the workshop.
Laura Cooke, CEO, Joy Works, LLC
Laura's life mission is to create generational change through teaching the skills that lead to joyful meaningful living. Through her many positions in business leadership both in the corporate world and in education, her true passion has always been about helping people. She has been trained at the Institute for Positive Education in Australia and through the Flourishing Institute and holds an MBA from the Ross School of Business at The University of Michigan. In previous roles, she has served as Assistant Head of The Wellington School, Business Director at Metatec Corporation leading a $25M business unit and an entrepreneur of a multi-media publishing company. Laura is a wife and mother of four children.
Doug Smith, Chairman, Joy Works, LLC
Doug is a wellspring of knowledge concerning the application of positive psychology to businesses and organization success. He expands our clients definition of success to include the concept of well-being;
specifically one's capacity for wisdom, spirituality, generosity and joy. Doug has served as CEO of three separate food companies (Kraft Canada, Borden Foods and Best Brands Corporation). He is an adjunct professor at DePauw University where he teaches a course on the science and skills of happiness. He is the author of
Happiness: The Art of Living with Peace, Confidence & Joy and has a BA and honorary doctorate from DePauw University and an MBA from Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business. Doug is a husband and father of two sons.
