Beginner’s Ballroom Dancing:
Our group dance classes provide a fun opportunity to move to the music, learn something new, and improve your health! Dance is a wonderful activity for your mental, physical, and social health!
This 6-week series will focus on two specific dance styles: Rumba is a smooth, slower Latin-style dance and Merengue is a fun, up-tempo Latin-style dance involving small steps and fluid hip movement. Both Rumba and Merengue are partnered dances, so we encourage attendees to sign up as a pair if possible. However, individuals are more than welcome! Individuals can pair up with other attendees or the instructor. Our group dance classes are for individuals of all fitness levels and no previous dance experience is necessary.
About the Instructor: Alexander (Aleko) Khutsidze has been dancing for almost 30 years. At age 5, Aleko started dancing a variety of dance styles. As a teen, he traveled around the world, mostly doing Georgian folk dancing. He moved to the United States in 2001 and competed professionally in International Latin dance for over 8 years with his partner Svetlana Bakalov. Currently, Aleko teaches dancers of all levels (beginners to advanced) and competes with his students.
