Girl Dad Workshop by ROX: Strengthening the Father/Daughter Relationship
As girls grow up, it can feel more and more difficult for adults and girls to connect. 39% of girls say they are sad or depressed for most of the week, and the rates of daily sadness have tripled for 5th and 6th grade girls and more than doubled for 7th and 8th grade girls. So what can you do to help your girls? When girls have fathers, who encourage their creative, athletic, and academic pursuits, they are likely to be happier, more well-adjusted, and more confident. Join Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX), a community partner and local nonprofit, for a fun and empowering workshop for dads and their girls, grades 4-5. At this workshop, you will start in your peer groups – with girls getting to discuss how to find their voice and dads learning simple strategies for communicating with their girls. Then, together, you will get a safe archery lesson and target practice from the Ohio Division of Wildlife. As part of registration, each adult will receive a copy of the book “Girls Without Limits: Helping Girls Succeed in Relationships, Academics, Careers, and Life.”
