Protecting Hearts: Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Youth
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a risk often associated with the elderly, but it’s actually much more common in youth than you may think. In fact, in the U.S., one young athlete dies every 3 or 4 days from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), making it the #1 cause of death among student athletes. Each year, thousands of children, teens, and young adults suffer SCA from undetected heart conditions, often resulting in death. Many of these deaths can be prevented through education, awareness, and prevention. Come learn more about the signs and symptoms of SCA and how you can be prepared to save a life. This free program is perfect for parents, teens, coaches, teachers, and citizens who want to learn more. Angela Douglas is a local New Albany resident and volunteer with Parent Heart Watch.
