You may have attended the unveiling at the Columbus Metropolitan Club and heard about the facilitated conversations in the community around it. As a Funder of the research and report conducted by The Women’s Fund through The Ohio State University Kirwin Institute, and a Collaborating Sponsor for the Conversation Toolkits, we are excited and deeply committed to providing the opportunity to engage clients and friends of Key around this topic. By way of background, in August, The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio released a research report titled The Pervasive Power of Gender Norms. This research underscores how gender norms and implicit biases related to them have a major impact on the lives of women and girls, and men and boys, as children and as adults. KeyBank has made it a priority of our diversity and inclusion strategy to support this initiative and engage in The Women’s Fund’s dialogue about gender norms. These conversations may tie into discussions you are already having in your company about gender and compensation in your industry, about the diversity of your team, and about how the genders may differ in client advocacy. The goal of the gender norms initiative and these conversations is to identify and disrupt invisible forces by raising awareness through conversation. I have participated in one of these conversations and it is challenging, thought provoking, and fun. On Wednesday, May 17th, our Key4Women Team will host a GenderByUs™ conversation for clients and guests of KeyBank. I invite you to join us and members of The Women’s Fund staff to have this conversation and share your thoughts and experiences. Please also bring a friend or colleague – men and women.
