Group Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical practice that continues to be popular in modern times. It can help prevent illness, treat illness, and leave your body feeling restored. Acupuncture involves inserting fine needles in various acupuncture points of the body along meridian lines. These 12 lines (or major channels) allow energy called Chi to circulate around the body. The Chinese believe blocks or breaks in the flow of Chi in the energetic system will eventually lead to illness in the physical body. Acupuncture helps restore the body’s natural flow of Chi, thereby bringing the body back in balance. In the group setting, acupuncture is growing in popularity because of the accessibility to new patients and low cost. Group acupuncture at the Heit Center is taught by Dr. Allan Bazzoli, M.D., who has been practicing the art and science of both Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine for more than 30 years. Acupuncture points in the lower legs, feet, lower arms, hands and ears are usually stimulated with needle insertion. In the group setting, up to 6 participants sit in a semi-circle and receive acupuncture together. Dr. Bazzoli will place needles in each person. The needles will remain in place for 25-30 minutes before being removed. Acupuncture is very safe with few side effects, most of which occur with the initial insertion of needles. Most patients find the treatment relaxing. The most common across the board benefit for patients include improved sleep patterns, increased energy, and a calmer more balanced feeling for daily life.
