Journey Around the World - A Cooking Series for Teens

Journey with us into a world filled with endless possibilities by experiencing cuisines from 4 continents and meeting Role Models who are leading and inspiring change around the world. This fun summer experience will teach life skills while empowering teen girls through education and exposure to the inspiring journeys of unstoppable women and girls from around the world.

Healthy New Albany and Role Model Magazine are collaborating to present this 4-week cooking class and storytelling course for teen girls. The class is designed to encourage confidence in the kitchen, and introduce girls to powerful women role models who are leading and inspiring change in our communities and beyond.

The curriculum will allow participants to get hands-on in the kitchen and explore cuisine from around the world, while also providing valuable life lessons to these young women by introducing them to some of the “Unstoppable 100 Women” who are featured in an inspiring coffee table book; which all participants will receive as part of registration. Plus they’ll get to meet some of these “unstoppable women” in person since some sessions will feature guests representing some of the countries we will “visit”!

• July 12 - August 2 (4-week series)

Registration Info:
• $230/attendee
• As part of registration, each attendee will receive a copy of "Unstoppable 100: Women and Girls Inspiring Change from Around the World '', a book by local publisher and author Sandra Brogdon featuring unstoppable and inspiring women and girls.

About the Instructors:
Eileen Pewitt was trained at Columbus Culinary Institute and has taught cooking classes for years at Healthy New Albany. She serves as the Cooking Education Coordinator at the New Albany Food Pantry and is passionate about eliminating food insecurity and connecting pantry clients to recipes and resources.
